WIMBLINGTON and STONEA
NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN
Wimblington and Stonea Parish are seeking to create a Neighbourhood Plan that will influence and guide the growth and development of the Parish over the next 15 years, putting in place policies by which future planning applications will be determined.
Neighbourhood Plans, introduced by the Localism Act 2011, are produced by local people for their own areas and therefore it is very important that local people are able to have a say about what goes into the NHP.
The emerging Fenland District Council’s Local Plan allocates 201 dwellings at 6 sites so the NHP is not able to prevent new housing development but can influence the type and design of new housing. This means the NHP will enable the local community to have more say about what kind of development is allowed, including protecting key assets, historical buildings and features as well as local green spaces.
NHP’s carry weight – they are part of the planning system. This means that Fenland District Council will have to take the Wimblington and Stonea Neighbourhood Plan into account when making decisions on planning applications in the designated area.
Completing this questionnaire gives you the opportunity to have your say and will give the steering group the evidence and rationale to help draft the NHP, which will be the subject of further community consultation at a later stage.
